Ms. Riehl began her career with Southern Pacific Company in San Francisco as a financial analyst, became Manager of Capital Budgets and then Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer where she was made responsible for capital planning for the entire Southern Pacific (Railroad) Transportation Company.   After service with Southern Pacific she joined Charles Schwab & Company, also in San Francisco, and became Assistant to the President where she developed a valuation model for the company and oversaw annual operating and capital budgets. Subsequently, she organized her own consultancy which serves her private sector and public sector clientele as well as subcontracting to well known industry participants like Woodside Consulting Group and Vanness. She has extensive experience with U.S., Canadian and Mexican Railroads, Ports, State Transportation Departments, Local Governments, and Private Industries.  Relevant experience includes:

  • Valued over 150 short line, regional and Class 1 railroads in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and South America for both buyers and sellers.
  • Determined settlement methodology and value for contract dispute between two Class 1 carriers.
  • Developed extensive strategic and business plan for large Class 1 railroad and over 50 short line railroads.
  • Developed and prepared operational and financial plans for over 14 large Class 1 rail terminals.
  • Prepared hundreds of rail costing analyses and market flow analyses across all commodities and equipment types. Developed and maintain business valuation model.
  • Prepared capacity analyses of rail lines throughout the United States.
